Features to know about

Brighter, Longer-Lasting, and Efficient: LED Stop, Tail, and Turn Light

Forget dim bulbs and short lifespans. This Optronics LED trailer light uses 10 bright diodes behind a red lens to deliver strong, clean illumination for stop, tail, and turn signals. It draws only 0.243 amps on stop/turn and 0.046 amps on tail at 12.8V, so it’s energy-efficient while staying bright enough to be seen clearly day or night. With LEDs that last far longer than incandescent bulbs, it’s a reliable light you can install and trust for the long haul.

Dealing with Water Exposure: Fully Submersible and Sealed Design

This light is built for the wet stuff. Its polycarbonate lens and housing are completely sealed to make it waterproof and submersible—perfect for boat trailers or wet-weather use. You don’t have to worry about moisture sneaking in or corroding the internals; it stays dry inside no matter what kind of water you back into.

Tight Mounting Spaces: Compact Oval Fit with Recessed Mount

When space is tight or you want a flush finish, this 6-7/16" long x 2-1/8" tall x 1-3/4" thick oval light fits right in. It’s designed for a recessed mount using a grommet (A70GB - sold separately) or can be installed in a bracket (BK70BB - sold separately) if you prefer surface mounting. Either way, it delivers a clean look that stays secure on the trailer.

Straightforward Wiring: Standard 3-Prong Connection

Hookup is simple thanks to its standard PL-3 connector that works with a 3-prong plug (A45PB or A47PB - sold separately). The wiring is clear—white for ground, black for tail/running lights, and red for combined stop and turn signals—so getting everything connected is quick and frustration-free.

Built to Standard and Ready to Replace

DOT compliant and carrying SAE codes S2, T2, and I6, this LED trailer light meets recognized safety standards. It also serves as an exact replacement for Uni-bond #LED2238-13R, Grote #53962, and Peterson #M420R-2, making it a dependable fit when upgrading or replacing older units without guesswork.

Excellent lights and very fast shipping.

Went right into my PJ Trailers car hauler to replace existing tail light that was partially blown causing some really odd issues with the rest of the lights. For example when I hit the brakes the running lights would come on.

Still working great after a year. If I have a problem in the future will look to replace with the same lights.

by:

Quick, Easy and Good Product.

by:

Bright and work well so far, have not yet submerged into the lake. But a word of warning.. I was surprised the lights were just tossed loose into a shipping box. No packaging, no rubber grommets, no pigtails. Luckily both the old rubber grommets and electrical connectors were in good shape on my trailer, and the new lights didn’t get too banged up in the shipping box.

After a year the lights are still bright and work flawlessly. Multiple dunks into the lake and no water was able to get into the lenses... would buy again!

by:

Needed these lights for one of our cargo trailers. I had a rear light go out, and these units are sealed... You can't buy just a replacement bulb. They fit perfectly, and are bright and reliable. Customer service was amazing, quick delivery. I'm a contractor, with 6 of these large cargo trailers, and using these LED replacement lights is the only way to go. They never burn out! Love Etrailer.

One year later, the trailer lights are doing great. Thanks for checking in. That rig is used every day in our business, and they are performing fine.

by:

These look great and are bright. A bit difficult fit for replacing the old lights but the electrical connection was the same. Overall we are very happy with them.

eTrailer was also awesome with the order process and very helpful

Just what the doctor ordered very bright quick delivery easy installation I would definitely recommend them to anyone that pulls the trailer

Nice, bright and easy to install. A much needed upgrade from the incandescent bulbs. Makes my boat trailer look great!

by:

Glad I forgot to order tail light from manufacturer for my tow dolly when I ordered replacement fender. Yours is perfect fit, much better price and best value for shipping of all sites I checked.

by:

I had to replace one burned tail light on my 2005 cargo trailer. I bought two and replace the other one as well. They work perfectly. The size and the 3 pins connction are the same as the original. A little downside is regarding the packaging. I would expect each light wrapped individualy to avoid the rattling in the box. See pics.

by:

I have a Haulmark utility trailer. One tail light was giving me trouble and I tried fixing it but decided to just replace it with these. They are brighter and fit right in to the old grommet. They were a bit loose so I wrapped some e-tape around them and they are staying in place just fine. I also ordered the pigtails and soldered and heat-shrinked the connections - the factory connecting were "scotch-locks", which I hate. After I did this, I looked closely at the old lights and realized that there was a 3 prong plug which I might have been able to use rather than doing new connections and soldering them, but by doing what I did, I now have tight connections and I can easily replace the light if I ever have to (I got rid of the scotch locks). Yes, I could maybe have soldered the old connections and used the old plug, but it was constructed in such a way that I didn't realize it was there (I thought it was part of the light body). My picture shows the old light and the old plug disconnected from it and the new LED in place on my trailer. It works great - glad I did this. It's much brighter than the old light.

Identical size, shape & function to the original taillight on a 2-yo Master Tow dolly. Replacement taillight from the mfg didn’t fit the original taillight bezel. This one is an exact fit.

  • Replacement LED Lights for a ROLA 10188 Adventure System
Hey Thomas. ROLA went out of business quite awhile ago but you can use the Optronics LED Trailer Light item # STL72RB to replace the ones on the ROLA 10188 Adventure system. These are the same size as the ones used to replace the lights on the Rola Swinging Enclosed Cargo Carrier you purchased back in 2017. Are you still using the original one you got from us?

  • Installation of Optronics Sealed, 6-1/2 Inch Oval LED Trailer Stop, Turn, and Tail Light
Thank you for your purchase from etrailer.com! The Optronics Sealed, 6-1/2 Inch Oval LED Trailer Stop, Turn, and Taillight # STL78RB that you purchased will need to be hardwire installed on your trailer. You will want to connect the light to your trailer's wiring by function. You can use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to determine the functions of your trailer wiring. The white wire on the light will need to be grounded. I recommend running the light ground back to the main trailer...

  • Trailer Taillight that Has License Plate Light Availability
Hey George, the Optronics LED Trailer Light part # STL72RB that you referenced does not have a license plate light that shines down. This installs flush in a grommet so it would not be possible for this type of light. The type of light kit we offer that has a license plate light built in would be more like the # TLL56RK which is a set for both sides of the trailer that also comes with a license plate bracket. It is difficult to compare the brightness on the different LED oval tail lights. Neither Bargman nor Optronics share lumen ratings for their tail lights. So, when comparing the Bargman 48 Diode Tail Light # 47-06-404 with the Optronics 22 Diode # STL111RB, or the Optronics 10 Diode # STL72RB, you won't notice a huge difference with the naked eye. You can pretty easily swap your trailer's taillights to LED style lights as it's basically just a matter of swapping the assemblies. You wouldn't need any special wiring harnesses or anything. • Turn Signals on Trailer are Dim and Not Work with Running Lights On
There are a couple of possible reasons why the directional lights on your trailer are dim and do not work at all when the running lights are turned on. The most common cause for this type of issue is a weak ground. A weak ground connection will usually allow enough current through for some lights to pass, but not enough for all of them. Considering that the running lights will remain continuously on when activated, unlike the brake or turn signals, they will require more power and there...
